  • At the Alhambra: Lions given to the Sultan by a member of the Jewish community. They were sculpted in the 10th or 11th Century. At one time they served as a clock with the water spouting out of a lion for an hour, and then switching to another lion to mark the next hour. The Christian Spaniards took it apart to figure out how it worked --- and it has never worked since.
